Tech Fair Tips
Teachers: If you had a project that did not win last year, please consider entering the project again this year. The projects are being worked by different students and will be reviewed by different judges.
Here are some hints for projects:
Here are some hints for projects:
- Remember that one student can present a project, but a Maximum TWO students per project.
- Make sure BOTH of the students on the project can explain all about the project (In case one is absent)
- Pick students that will do a great job "selling" their project during the Judges Interviews.
- Stress to students the importance of having them share with Judges how the project has impacted instruction.
- Have students practice using the Category Rubrics found under the Categories Tab at the top of this page. The questions that Curriculum Coaches and the Community Judges will ask are listed on the left side of the Rubrics pages.
- Do a practice run with your projects the week or week before the Tech Fair. Ask your Administrators to come and be a "Practice Judge." This not only helps the students with their presentations, but involves the Administrators in the Tech Fair...since most of them don't get to attend the Tech Fair itself.
- If you are entering multiple projects, be flexible, and consider making some adjustments to some projects so that they fit into different categories...that way you don't have too many of your projects competing against one another in the same Category.
- Ask your Tech Coach to look over projects and give feedback.
- Remember that there are to be no more than two (2) students attending per project.
- No display boards are permitted.
- Space is limited to approximately three feet per project.
- Two laptops can be used: One for the Project and one for the Display. If you prefer, you can use just one laptop and switch to your project as needed.
- For larger projects, it is suggested that you video or do a presentation of the project in action, for example flight simulators, drones, students in action, etc.
